Puttering

Puttering – our new favorite word here at the White House. The past few days I have been painting the kitchen hutch and Jim has been puttering with creating knobs and handles. I absolutely love the way this piece came out!

The previous owners of the white house were a wonderful couple who took extremely good care of this property, including the interior decor. The kitchen, since my siblings and I were old enough to remember was yellow and white. These colors contain the feelings of our memories of this house and that wonderful couple. We couldn’t give that up, so I have tried to update the decor while creating the same sunny, warm feeling our childhood memories have. The previous owners were also extremely talented and crafty, using what supplies they had on hand for the job at hand, so I am certain they would approve of our solution to the “average” knobs and handles that are available; because honestly this signature piece requires more than average!

Still more to do in the kitchen, hope to have a follow up in the next week or two with finished photos!
