After 23 days in the woods we have running and hot water at the White House on Shull Run!
We have bleached every corner, crack and cranny in the joint and primed the walls.
Had a dumpster delivered, filled it with all sorts of crazy things from the house and the shed. We have mowed, weed eated and started trimming trees. We have also re-built a closet, moved our belongings in and started to get things put away. There are lighting and outlet issues, we have popped a couple breakers, but other than the really cold snap on May 17 when it snowed we have been able to keep the cabin warm and dry.
Only once have I woken up in a panic questioning our sanity! Honestly, for two people who have never considered themselves risk takers, this might have been a risk! The flood evidence, leaning supports under the cabin and incredible slope of the kitchen floor are proof that sane, rational people do get wild hairs, and when they do ~ watch out, they’re whoppers!
But the scenery is gorgeous. When we get up we are instantly outside with our coffee – even in the cold, to sit and watch and listen and enjoy. In the evenings we build a fire – to stay warm, but also to relax and enjoy the sunset. It is so peaceful everyday that searching for where the mice are coming in really doesn’t seem to bother us! We have no TV and a radio that gets one station (they do play Penguins hockey and that is AWESOME). We did get a satellite -Papa isn’t happy – but we do need to stay connected to the world a little bit!

The creek runs under the camp almost every spring (sometimes in the camp) so we just may need this life saving device

Moving truck parked at the end of the driveway for us to unload, the driver was afraid he’d get stuck, so he left it there; very long walk, thank goodness we downsized!
What a wonderful adventure in your lives! I admire y’all, am jealous of y’all, and not sure I could do it!
